My work

Artefact - Website

Artefact Magazine was my final major project in the final year of my undergraduate degree. As a cohort, we produced work for the website and a print edition (see below). I produced six articles overall, focusing on a diverse range of topics including womanhood, dyslexia and adult collectors.

When institutions fail, women take safety into their own hands — Artefact

As institutional reform fails and police misconduct is exposed, women are turning to support lines and apps to keep them safe after dark.

‘Text me when you’re home safe’

‘Make sure you share your location’

These are all too familiar phrases for many women travelling after dark. Many walk with their keys between their fingers, constantly looking over their shoulder, worried when a car slows down next to them.

Their worry is not without cause. In recent years, there have been mult...

'Fly Girls Love Planes': The Planespotting Club challenging stereotypes — Artefact

A growing group of female plane spotters is challenging long-standing stereotypes in aviation, creating a space for themselves in both the hobby and career.

On a blustery Saturday afternoon, a group of women gather on the bank of the River Thames, opposite London City Airport. They watch as a plane’s engine roars to life and takes off down the river, many of them taking photos or filming.

These women are not your typical plane spotters. Usually, you’d imagine plane spotters to be mid...

Why dyslexia remains hidden in UK schools — Artefact

Despite affecting millions, dyslexia often goes undiagnosed – leaving 80% of dyslexic students to struggle without support.

I felt like I was working hard enough to get high grades, but I never could. I always saw my classmates and friends achieving top results, getting...

Queueing for childhood: The rise of the adult collector — Artefact

The toy business is booming thanks to adults. What’s driving them back to the things they loved as children?

It’s 10:00 am on a Monday and Camden High Street is busier than usual. Among the normal tourists, there’s a queue of people eagerly awaiting the opening of the newest Pop Mart store.

Pop Mart is a Chinese toy store known for selling collectible toys and figurines, being most well known for its ‘Labubu’ character. Although there are a couple of children waiting, the queue is pre...

Artefact Magazine - Print Edition

At the end of the final major project. we produced a print magazine. My article "Why dyslexia is hidden in UK schools" was featured. I also co-wrote the editor's letter with a fellow student.

Print edition

In June 2025, a print edition was produced and both of my reviews were featured.
